Executive Vice President – Strategic Operations & Finance
Jonathan Chalfen joined Kensington Vanguard in November 2020 as Executive Vice President – Strategic Operations & Finance. With over 20 years of financial services experience, Jonathan will play a pivotal role in executing the overall corporate strategy for the Company. Primary responsibilities will include developing and strengthening business analytics, assessing potential acquisitions and new ventures, as well as partnering with other key executives to help support business initiatives. Jonathan also directly oversees the Company’s Finance, Information Technology and Compliance divisions.
Prior to joining Kensington Vanguard, Jonathan was Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at Planet Home Lending, a private equity owned mortgage originator and servicer. While at Planet, Jonathan’s mandate was to develop all aspects of financial reporting such as dashboards, KPI’s, client profitability scorecards, budgets, as well as benchmarking internal cost metrics to industry competitors. Jonathan was also integral in the company’s push for distributed retail branch exposure, while developing financial models that helped Planet acquire 30 branches in two years.
Prior to joining Planet, Jonathan was Senior Vice President of Finance at Seneca Mortgage Investments, private equity owned by Blackstone subsidiary GSO Capital and EJF Capital. In that capacity, Jonathan was responsible for all financial activities of the firm, and especially supporting the firm’s board of directors. In mid-2017, Jonathan worked on the execution of the sale of Seneca’s mortgage investment portfolio to Wells Fargo valued at $550M. Towards the end of 2017, Jonathan helped wind down Seneca’s operations and returned capital to the private equity owners.
Jonathan received a bachelor’s degree from State University of NY at Oneonta and holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University in Lincoln Center, NY.
